Sustainable Homes Showcase and Tour
Want to make your home more energy efficient, warmer and more comfortable? Want to add solar power, or wind power, better insulation, or sewage treatment? Want to include straw bale construction or passive heating in the design of your next new home?
Over the last nine months, Resilient Carterton has run a series of articles in the Crier about people in Carterton who have either retrofitted their existing homes or included sustainable features in their new builds, to help make their homes warmer and more energy efficient.
This Saturday 14 October, Resilient Carterton will be running their much-awaited Sustainable Homes Showcase and Tour. In the morning, some homeowners will welcome a limited number of guests through their homes. From 1.00–4.00pm the Sustainable Homes Showcase will feature talks, tradespeople, and owners of homes who have added sustainable features.
This free Showcase will kick-off at 1.00pm with a talk by Richard Morrison, the Sustainable Homes advisor from Kāpiti Coast District Council. He will be giving people affordable and simple ideas on how to help make their existing homes more energy efficient.
There will also be talks throughout the afternoon from other experts including retrofitting solar power and passive design for new homes. Tradespeople will be there to demonstrate different sustainable features and technologies, including insulation, window glazing, curtains, and solar. Some of the original homeowners from the Crier articles will be available to share their personal experiences.
Join us for a free, informative afternoon getting some ideas on how to make your existing or new home warmer and more energy efficient.
